Red Hat Middleware Webinar

c2b2 middleware partners, Red Hat have made their Big Data webinar available on demand, with Principal Product Manager, Divya Mehra and Senior Software Engineer, William Burns hosting.

This 60 minute video will focus on how data trends are driving the need for computing and in-memory storage.

Key topics will include:

  • Use cases and requirements for big and fast data projects, from a data management perspective

  • Red Hat® JBoss® Data Grid—a 4-in-1 package used as a distributed cache, an in-memory NoSQL database, an event broker, and a big data/IoT store

  • Solving modern data management requirements with JBoss Data Grid

Here's the spiel....

The convergence of mobile, social, big data, and cloud has increased demands on applications to react instantaneously to changes in data at a large scale. A delay of a few seconds can mean the difference between engaging or losing a customer for a retailer, increased liquidity or fraud risk for a financial institution, and resolution or escalation of an adverse occurrence in an Internet of Things (IoT) network.

Application performance is highly correlated to how quickly an app can access and process a variety of data types. It's crucial that data platforms provide high performance as data changes, scales out linearly to handle large data sets, and maintains data integrity and security.

Getting Started with AWS
Tuesday, July 26, 2016 5:00:00 PM BST - 6:00:00 PM BST

This is a how-to session for developers, DevOps and administrators, learning the basics of AWS and offering discussions on core services such as EC2 and Amazon S3. Demonstrations will include how to launch virtual machines in the cloud, back up and restore data, and more.

SQL to NoSQL - Best Practices with Amazon DynamoDB
Tuesday, July 26, 2016 8:00:00 PM BST - 9:00:00 PM BST

In this webinar, NoSQL Solutions Architect, Sean Shriver will describe common database tasks, then compare and contrast SQL with equivalent DynamoDB operations.  He'll consider the benefits of Amazon's NoSQL db service, common SQL db operations and their DynamoDB equivalent, and making the switch to NoSQL.

Mobile App Testing with AWS Device Farm
Wednesday, July 27, 2016 5:00:00 PM BST - 6:00:00 PM BST

In this webinar, Trent Peterson will explain how to use Device Farm to run automated tests on hundreds of real devices, and get logs, screenshots, and performance data in minutes. He'll also show a demo of the Remote Access feature which lets you to interact with physical devices in real time through your web browser.

Amazon EC2 Masterclass
Wednesday, July 27, 2016 6:30:00 PM BST - 7:30:00 PM BST

After a brief overview of AWS, this session will dive into some EC2 essentials including global availibility, virtual machine types, and deployment options. Key management and security groups will be covered, along with using auto scaling to match capacity and costs with demand using dynacmic policies. Payment models will be explained, along with EC2 instance types, and the session will also provide an overview of supporting services such as Elastic Block Store, S3, VPC, ELB, and CloudWatch.

Getting Started with IoT
Wednesday, July 27, 2016 8:00:00 PM BST - 9:00:00 PM BST

IoT devices present unique security challenges because of their physical constraints, such as connectivity, power and storage. With these additional dynamics, IoT solutions must adapt their architecture to account for this. AWS IoT now supports Elliptic Curve Cryptography (ECC) for devices connecting to AWS IoT using TLS. ECC is an approach to public key cryptography that differs from the RSA’s methodology. ECC allows devices to maintain a high security bar while using smaller keys than RSA for the same cryptographic strength. This session demonstrates that the foundation of an IoT solution starts and ends with security. Atendees will learn how to use EC-based certificates to establish TLS connections, how to request an EC-based certificate from AWS IoT and how to use ECDHWE TLS cipher suites.

Intro to Elastic File System
Thursday, July 28, 2016 5:00:00 PM BST - 6:00:00 PM BST

In this session, Sr. Product Manager Edward Naim will talk about Elastic File System use cases, common project profiles and the criteria for selecting and designing a file system in the cloud. He'll offer an understanding of the AWS file system, elasticity performance and protocols, and which AWS storage service to apply to which problems.

Getting Started with Amazon Redshift
Thursday, July 28, 2016 6:30:00 PM BST - 7:30:00 PM BST

This webinar - hosted by Pavan Pothukuchi (Principal Product Manager, DBS Redshift) will provide an introduction to Amazon Redshift and cover the essentials you need to deploy your data warehouse in the cloud so that you can achieve faster analytics and save costs.
